Virtual Virtuousness
Cheating Cures
In a blend of marital counseling and digital technology, a new treatment has been developed for the potential or in-progress straying of the male partner in a relationship. A study has shown that the memory of an affair is just as powerful as the actual affair, and consequently the new therapy includes virtual reality treatments that simulate an affair for the patient, both during conscious and semi-conscious sessions.
While the reality of a long-term affair cannot be replaced by the fabricated memory reinforcement using multiple treatments, therapy has shown complete satisfaction in reducing the wandering tendency by simulating an affair for the male. In post-therapy studies, men have accepted the memories as satisfactory with follow-up sessions every year with a focus on the seventh year of treatment, further reinforcement of the “seven-year itch”.
Note: The seven-year itch sentiment has become so popular that some couples use it as an indicator of the lifespan of their marriage, an example being a Bavarian politician, Gabriele Pauli, who has been divorced twice. She suggests that, after seven years, marriage should end, with the couple required to reconfirm their vows if they wish to continue for another seven years.
