TrumPutin – Art of the Lie

Rus-ful Idiot

The Road to Trumpdom is paved with untruth.  Lying in real estate development is normal so Trump has a solid background for entering politics where the truth can also be flexible.  The old saying holds true except in real estate, that you are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own set of facts.  When a prodigious liar (Trump) meets another liar (Putin), you would think Trump could spot the lies and the other liar, except Trump may be too stupid to know he is being played as the true “useful idiot”.  Or he appreciates someone who is a bigger liar.  Trump is truly the Manicured Candidate (bronzer, strange hair, exaggerated tie length), but similar to the Manchurian Candidate in his dealings with Putin.

Power can be built these days on lies such that a country leader can create a real crisis (Putin war in Ukraine) or imaginary crisis (Trump for America’s decline) and they need this crisis – an endless crisis to keep focus off of the suppressed lives, or supposedly miserable lives, of their citizens and to stay in power.  And the media, the controlled media or self-interested media, has to tell lies so there is no truth except their lies plus also casting doubt on the truth at every turn via the appropriate misdirected label of “fake news.”

With regard to falsehood, one can take Trump’s writing to another level with The Art of the Deal leading to The Art of the Steal, The Art of the Comeback leading to The Art of the Kickback and a future more honest book called simply The Art of the Lie.  No reason to hide one’s true nature as one Trump observer Tony Schwartz has noted: “Lying is second nature to him. More than anyone else I have met, Trump has the ability to convince himself that whatever he is saying at any given moment is true, or sort of true, or at least ought to be true.”

Channeling domestic disinformation with the help of Fox and channeling Russian disinformation is just like breathing for Donald J. Trump.  He is smart and corrupt enough to take the money from his admirers and other corrupt people, but too stupid not to realize that they now control him, and he will have to pay it back, like mob extortion.  As reported in certain analyses and research, following the trail of the money with Trump is the best way to find out who controls him, hence the hesitancy to release his tax returns and the Russian investors in his real estate.  (The absolute worst lie in Trump’s world is lying on his golf score, which is unforgiveable in the golf world which relies on truth in scoring.)

As noted elsewhere on this website, a perfect tombstone epitaph for Trump is “Here I Lie” as the perfect gutting of the Ninth Commandment.  Perhaps a second line of the tombstone would “The Buck Stopped Here, in my Pocket.”

Postscript:  There may be hope for Trump if an intervention were to occur and Trump were pulled into a Liars Anonymous meeting.  www.liarsanonymous.org
